OK, I’m way behind on the links that I was planning on posting, and Firefox is starting to get a little sluggish from all the tabs I have open, so here’s a few:
Home Test for Parallel Universes
The RIAA is (unsurprisingly) lying about record sales falling. Sales are up, releases are down. But somehow [...]
Bunch of cool little snippets of short stories (or maybe stories all the themselves, your call) from a bunch of different authors at Warren Ellis’ blog. Scroll down to the May 14th entries to see them. They’re cool.
I have a confession to make. I have suddenly become obsessed by “All The Things She Said” by t.A.T.u. Every once in a while, I have some terrible song I feel compelled to listen to over and over for a few weeks. Now, thanks to iTMS, I only waste a dollar each [...]
I’m not sure exactly what to say about this “brain in a vat” essay, other than if you were SymSys or something similar, you’ll probably find it a bit funny.
Really interesting article in the NYTimes about water rights in the West and the importance of the Colorado River. Nothing is really all that surprising about it when you consider the fact that we have millions of people living in vast stretches of desert. Maybe I should rent Chinatown this weekend.
Bruce Schneier has a thoughtful essay over at CNet that should be required reading for everyone as we move into an election cycle where one of the big topics will undoubtedly be “who can best protect us and how?” We need to analyze the costs and benefits of any given security proposal, whether it [...]
I wondered if this AP story about the potential dangers of high voltage lines in the new-ish hybrid gas/electric cars is a serious issue, or just a typical “scare for news” type of story, so I braved the discussions at /. just for you. Sounds like it’s mostly bogus. The story at Gizmodo [...]
There’s a decent interview with Brian Behlendorf over at Netcraft where he talks about Open Source ASP business models, Open Source desktop adoption, and the SCO case. Interesting if you’re in to this kind of thing.
Those of you who know me know I’m a fairly strong proponent of reasonable intellectual property rights, and I’ve never bought the “record companies take most/all of the money anyway, so it’s OK to pirate music” spiel. However, it’s still depressing to realize that the argument, while still not convincing as far as the [...]
Kevin Laws at VentureBlog has some interesting observations on the economic realities of oil production and the impact it is having on investment in alternative energy technologies. An interesting read, and one that makes me a bit more optimistic than I have been in the past: Tapping The Trillion Dollar Market
Chris pointed me to Audio Out Send, a Flaming Lips-ish group staffed by some of the guys from his old band, Lazybones. If you like The Flaming Lips, I don’t think there will be anything to shock you here, but I liked the sound of what I heard on the web site, and [...]
Hi and welcome to neuralgraffiti.com. After encouragement from a few friends, I decided it was time for me to move my copious knowledge of interesting links and political vitriol from IM over to tha intarweb where it could reach an audience of tens.
