Fast track to a fine vintage?

Fast track to a fine vintage? - Japanese company claims to have invented a process for artificially aging and improving wines without the need to cellar them. Interesting, but I’ll be surprised if it works. As would Derrick, I’m guessing. [via Dave, who is totally dropping a P-A reference in that post.]

I actually saw a similar device being marketed while I was in Japan. It was a metallic utensil similar to a spoon that you were to dip into your glass of wine for a few seconds. Once that was done, it was supposed to have miraculously improved the wine. At least, that is what I gleaned from looking on at a department store where they were demoing this product. I didn’t have the courage to engage in a completely non-sensical Japanenglish conversation about wine vintages, so I have no idea what they were actually doing.
