Now, normally we don’t deign to do these “meme” things at Neuralgraffiti, being more concerned with highfalutin’ legal concepts and Dick Cheney jokes. But when your friend Derrick (famous food and wine writer that he is) tags you, I think you have no choice but to cave in. (Although I note that Mr. Invective Works has held out. Not even a rant about Stupid Internet Memes^TM? Come on!)

Anyway, here are my “Four Things.”

Four jobs I’ve had:

1. Farm hand (I worked detasseling corn, “rogue-ing” corn, and spraying soybeans on my Aunt Mary and Uncle Ron’s farm)
2. “Computer Guy” (my official title for a while, then I think I was something boring, like Information Technology Specialist), ASSU/SSE
3. Resident Assistant, Stanford (Twain House!)
4. Software Engineer (although “Programmer” would be more accurate. I know some real engineers, and I’m not one. All my “real jobs” have been doing that.)

Four movies I can watch over and over:

1. Office Space
2. The Big Lebowski
3. Rushmore
4. Ghostbusters

Four places I’ve lived:

1. Omaha, Nebraska
2. London, England (technically, I lived in Cobham, but you don’t know where that is)
3. Atlanta, Georgia (very briefly)
4. San Francisco, California

Four TV shows I love: (Like Derrick, I don’t really watch TV anymore, but I get TV shows on Netflix)

1. Arrested Development
2. Scrubs
3. Aqua Teen Hunger Force
4. Carnivale

Four places I’ve vacationed:

1. Adventureland
2. Paris (a couple times)
3. Italy (Rome, Venice, Milan, never Florence, sadly)
4. Austria (Salzburg and Innsbruck)

Four of my favorite dishes:

1. Macaroni and Cheese (my ultimate comfort food)
2. A really nice rack of BBQ (by which I mean smoked until falling apart) ribs
3. Chicken Paprika with Spätzle (the way my mom makes it)
4. Does ice cream count as a dish? Because I love it.

Four sites I visit daily:

1. Bloglines.com, where I turn on my information firehose daily
2. Arts and Letters Daily
3. The New York Times Online
4. Flickr

Four places I’d rather be right now:

1. Backpacking (mountains preferred)
2. Sleeping in the sun with an unread book in Golden Gate Park
3. Eating (Paris, perhaps?)
4. Anywhere but the Gold Room
